Spider-Man and Captain America Ricochet Racers!

Here's the toy I posted the ad for a while back!

Kind of a bizarre thing to link Captain America to, if you ask me! This line of toys didn't last too long -- I'm guessing the cars shot out of the launchers fast enough to hurt kids they were pointed at!

  1. I had this back in Ye Olden Tymes, and adored it. You'd put the "ricochet racer" figure into a shell casing of sorts, pull back the bolt on the gun, insert the casing and racer into it, close the chamber, then pull the trigger. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

I'm not positive (it's been thirty years, and I had this thing as a young boy), but I think the problem with the toy was that the body of the gun was too weak for the spring and the violence of the mechanism. I think the gun just broke after a little while.

And yes, you could shoot the "ricochet racers" through the air, a little. And yes, I did.

  2. I don't know how weak the body was... I thought the spring was what failed first! I've only had one of these... bought it at a garage sale for a quarter, and painted it to use as a blaster for a Star Wars costume.
